Presentations

The presentations listed are ones that I already have ready to go and have previously presented a few to my local genealogy groups. If you’d like something more specific or would like a workshop, contact me about the specifics.

Current Presentations

  • Introduction to Genealogy – half hour to an hour long presentation about how to get started and where to look for information – I normally customize this to each specific group
  • Citing Your Sources – for beginners or hobbyists who haven’t done too much citing in the past – This presentation covers the basics of what citation elements need to be included in your research notes on your sources. This does not focus on citations made for publications.
  • Writing Family Histories – an hour long presentation discussing the various ways to present your information, how to get started, and things to keep in mind when it comes to publishing in either book or blog form
  • House History Research – Ever wonder about your current home’s past owners? How the house came to be? What’s original and what’s not? This hour long presentation goes over records you can find AND how to look at the house for clues in dating.
  • Genealogy Beginner Class/Workshop– this is a series of small presentations that are geared for beginners. We start with the basics of getting started and meet again to cover next steps and where/how to find records besides online. Access to computers during these presentations is a plus.
  • Using Ancestry.com and FamilySearch – this covers how best to use either website, tips and tricks, and general information about how they work.
