Coming May 3rd!

This will be a recurring monthly event at Big Thompson Brewery in Loveland, Colorado, the first Sunday of every month. My goal is for this to be very casual. There’s no planned presentation, speaker, or even topic. We just sit and meet at a table and chat about some genealogy you are working on. This is an opportunity to get some help in person by me or other genealogy enthusiasts who are also coming by!

I do suggest that if you have something quite complicated you are more than welcome (and encouraged) to contact me before the event! You can then send me the main question you’re working on along with what you have found so far and where you’re getting stuck. Then I can review it before meeting and can give you better, and more specific, guidance.

Contact me with any questions or any complicated research you are currently working on!

Copper Leaf Genealogy is Back!

My last post was about me going to work at Ancestry.com’s ProGenealogists as a professional genealogist in 2018. That department is where people can hire an Ancestry genealogist to help with their family research. I first worked on the New England team and got to dive into early, EARLY, New England records, which was incredibly fun and rewording. From there, I moved into genetic genealogy, which was what I had been striving for. I worked on the DNA team and helped people find their biological family until I left the company in 2024. The work was very rewarding, but also at times quite difficult, as one can imagine.

My time at Ancestry definitely honed my research and writing skills and I am ready to put those skills to work for clients! I am still working out some kinks with the website but I do plan to begin blogging once more, or at least, create useful tips for genealogical research.

I am very glad to be back and look forward to becoming a part of this world once again!

Big News!

I recently accepted at a job at Ancestry’s ProGenealogists in Salt Lake City! I’m super excited to be working with some amazing genealogists and I’m excited to really start diving in and learning more.

With that, there are some changes happening here. As some may have already noticed, the business part of the blog is gone – I am no longer running Copper Leaf Genealogy as a business, but only as a personal blog.

What does that mean for the blog? There will be some changes and I’m waiting to hear back on everything. So watch this space for what will happen next!

You can still contact me through the contact page if you’d like and I will hopefully have more information soon.

Thank you for reading over the years! I’m excited to see what this brings next!

Bob, Press, Mom, Ned, Dad, + I stayed home + played cards. Gave mom her coffee table. Jack + Marge came over. Went to bed. Please Dear Lord let this be a very merry Christmas for all. Amen.

And that is the end of my grandmother’s journal! Oddly, even though it wasn’t always very informative, I feel like I got to know my grandmother much better through this process. I hope those who read these enjoyed them as well as I did. 🙂
