Wordless Wednesday: My Grandmother’s Cause

My grandmother (on the right) when she worked for the American Cancer Society in the late 60’s, early 70’s. Although she had smoked for quite some time, she told me that when she saw a picture of what it did to your lungs, she quit right then and there. After that, she wanted to start educating people about the dangers of smoking 🙂

I want to share this with people who will hopefully understand 🙂 I signed in to FamilyTreeDNA to check on my grandparents DNA test to see if it arrived yet and I found this:

This picture was sent to me by a cousin and I love it! L to R: Elizabeth (Kern) Hummel (my 3rd great-grandmother), Richard Hummel, Jacob R. Hummel (my 3rd great-grandfather), Jeremiah Hummel, Mae Elizabeth (Hummel) Fellows, Oliver Warren Hummel (my great-grandfather), Oliver Dick Hummel (my 2nd great-grandfather), Flora (Devens) Hummel (my 2nd great-grandmother). Sitting at the bottom are Mildred Hazel (Hummel) Mudie, Fern Gertrude (Hummel) Conklin and Josephine (Hummel) Lake.
